A Michigan couple is upset after learning their 2-year-old son was being bound against his will during nap time at day care.
According to WNEM, an employee of Rainbow Child Care Center was disturbed enough by the child's treatment to alert the parents, Jason and Rebecca Vannest.
The employee provided a photo of the child, swaddled in a blanket, to the Vannests, who shared it with local media. The employee claimed that the swaddling took place during naps over a period of a couple of months.
The Vannests claim the day care’s treatment of their son is a “clear case of abuse.”
Rainbow Child Care would not discuss the case with WNEM, citing confidentiality concerns.
The Department of Health and Human Services cited the day care for the incident.
The reaction on social media has been mixed. While some parents agreed with the Vannests, other parents said that swaddling is not child abuse.
