A dying woman’s last wish to be at the beach was fulfilled by an ambulance crew who made the detour while taking her to the hospital.

A terminally ill woman was being taken to a palliative care facility when she said out loud that she wished she could "just be at the beach," according to news.com.

So the driver, with the OK from his supervisor, made the side trip to see the water from a scenic point.

"We popped her up on the hill where she could see the pier and Fraser Island and right through to Point Burrum and she was ecstatic with it all," Queensland Ambulance Service paramedic Graeme Cooper told news.com.

An image posted to social media Wednesday shows Cooper standing next to the gurney with the woman overlooking Hervey Bay.

“I thought if all these rocks weren’t here I’d get down into my jocks and take you into the ocean ... and I would have ... however I thought the next best thing was I can get some ocean and bring it to her,” Cooper said. “She actually tasted the salt water.”
