The Houston Police Department lost one of its own recently.
Charlotte was a police horse of four years who died while patrolling city streets with her partner in crime, Officer D. Herrejon.

The horse was startled when it saw a cement truck and bucked Herrejon from its back, according to TheDodo.com. She then ran into the streets where she was struck by a vehicle.
The officer's final moments with the horse were caught on camera.
