An off-duty Detroit police officer was in the right place at the right time, helping a child deal with the emotional aftermath of a car accident.

Lt. Joe Tucker was in his own car when he drove by an accident scene last week, WDIV reported.

Four children and their mother were involved in the crash.

While neighbors took care of the three other kids, Tucker noticed 10-year-old Johntez crying.

"He was crying and nervous, so I laid down next to him," Tucker said.

He also asked the boy if he wanted to watch a motorcycle video on his phone.

Later, Johntez's mother found Tucker online to thank him for what he did for her son, WDIV reported.
