Protests this week in Baltimore culminated Saturday with thousands of people filling the streets downtown to protest the death of a man who suffered a spinal cord injury while in police custody.
It was not entirely peaceful - some protesters started throwing objects at police Saturday evening, according to a tweet from the Baltimore Police.

Protesters took to the streets to honor Freddie Gray, 25, who died April 19 after a weeklong coma after being taken into police custody. Gray was running from police when he was arrested April 12, according to the Baltimore Sun. He was responsive when he was put in a police van and taken to the station, where he arrived in deep distress, according to The Associated Press. Paramedics were called to the station about 45 minutes after Gray's arrest. Six officers were suspended.

The protest shut traffic down at various parts of the city, according to the Baltimore Sun. Some protesters starting kicking parked cars near Camden Yards, but an organizer then tried to stop the protester.

Protests started earlier in the week, with about 50 marchers walking from City Hall to police headquarters Monday.
