One Tinton Falls, New Jersey, resident is 24 years old today, but she was born in 1920.
Kathie Taylor is a leapling, a baby born on leap day, which only happens once every four years -- on Feb. 29 in a leap year.
Taylor is celebrating her 96th birthday, but because she was born February 29, 1920, she has only had 24 actual birth days.
"I tell people I'm 24," Taylor told Asbury Park Press. "If they don't guess leap year, they think, 'Gee, something's the matter with her.'"
Although Taylor has fun with her unique birthday, celebrating another year can be challenging.
She said one year her family celebrated her birthday at midnight between Feb. 28 and March 1.
“It’s much smoother if you just have a regular birthday. We sang 'Happy Birthday' and then I said, ‘It’s over, no more birthday.’ It lasted a split second.”
But having this day, even if it is only once every four years, makes Taylor grateful.
"I’m so glad to have a whole day that’s really my birthday,” Taylor said. “If you can’t make it on the real day, it’s strange."
Watch Taylor celebrate her 24th birthday in the video below.
