The United Nations Security Council is expected to hold an emergency meeting Wednesday in response to North Korea's firing of an intercontinental ballistic missile. The meeting was expected to take place Wednesday afternoon in New York, CNN reported.
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley tweeted Tuesday the meeting had been requested by the U.S., Japan and South Korea.
Haley also tweeted a statement released by Secretary of State Rex Tillerson calling for "global action… to stop a global threat," referring to North Korea's ICBM launch.
It was apparently a long day for Haley, who also tweeted a complaint about working on the holiday, with a sarcastic hashtag, #ThanksNorthKorea.
