Women who picked Nashville for their bachelorette parties this weekend may have drafted the wrong city.
The plucky, honky-tonk-filled town has become a go-to destination for bachelorette festivities and also happens to be the location of this year’s NFL draft, bringing with it the revelry and fanfare of thousands of football fans from across the country.
“When did they start planning the draft, because I feel like I just found out about this,” a bridesmaid standing next to a woman in a “Bride” shirt told WXIX.
“I found out three days ago, and it made me want to cry,” the bride told WXIX.
Police estimated 100,000 people were celebrating the draft Thursday in downtown Nashville, The Tennessean reported.
The sight of groups of women wearing matching bachelorette T-shirts clashed with throngs of NFL fans, some wearing cheesehead hats, horns or Viking masks.
The bachelorettes still planned to make the most of their time in the Music City.
“The person who’s going to pay for this is my husband when I refuse to watch football the entire season... I’m talking no Super Bowl,” the bridesmaid told WXIX. “Because you get married once -- how often does the draft happen?” she asked her bride-to-be companion. “Every freakin’ year,” the bride-to-be replied.
