Authorities in New Jersey are searching for a missing 5-year-old girl who disappeared from a playground Monday afternoon, police said.
According to WPIX-TV, Dulce Maria Alavez, of Bridgeton City, was playing with her younger brother at Bridgeton City Park about 4:20 p.m. Monday when a man led her to a red van, New Jersey State Police said in an Amber Alert. The vehicle had tinted windows and a sliding door, authorities said.
Dulce's mother and an 8-year-old family member were in a parked car at the time, officials told WPIX. When Dulce's brother returned to the car without her, their mother searched but could not find her daughter, the woman told police.
Authorities described Dulce as a 3-foot-tall, 60- to 70-pound Hispanic girl with brown hair and eyes. She was wearing a yellow shirt with an elephant printed on the front, black-and-white pants and white shoes, the Amber Alert said.
The suspect is a thin Hispanic man standing about 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall, police said. The man, who has acne and no facial hair, was wearing a black shirt with red pants and orange shoes, according to the Amber Alert.
