It is the day that pancake lovers can rejoice - National Pancake Day. To celebrate anyone who can brave the lines at their local International House of Pancakes can get a free short stack of their famous buttermilk pancakes and even help out a great cause.
IHOP is marking its 10th year as it celebrates it's "Decade of Giving" and organizers hope that you will consider making a donation to Children's Miracle Network hospitals or a local charity in exchange for the free flapjacks. The donation is suggested, but not required.
Last year, IHOP served enough free pancakes across the country to reach 12 miles high, or about 4.2 million of them according to WWJ. Patrons also donated almost $3 million to charity in 2014.
Overall IHOP has raised nearly $16 million over the past nine years, WGN reported.
This year IHOP hopes to collect $3.5 million for charity.
