A Canton, Connecticut, mother was shaken as she said she was "verbally assaulted" by a man who did not like seeing her breastfeed her 4-week-old baby in a Target food court Monday.

Jessie Maher recorded video shortly after an unidentified man began raising his voice at her.

"Before the video started rolling, he looked at me and said (very angrily), 'Can't you do that somewhere else? That's (expletive) disgusting. You are nasty,'" she said in an explicit Facebook post in which she shared video of the incident.

Maher, who works as a doula, can be heard on video saying she was shaking when the man began berating her. She said he called her disparaging names.

The mother told WTIC Tuesday that the man initially looked at her and appeared to become angry. He then asked employees for a refund.

"He was coming back; that's when he started screaming at me," Maher said. "Because I'm feeding my baby, this man is going crazy."

Maher said that Target employees came to her defense, as did some shoppers, one of whom can be heard on the video voicing support.

"Do not be ashamed at all," the shopper said. "(With) all the horror in the world, this is the last thing you need to be worrying about."
