A mother of five was struck and killed by a car in Gastonia Sunday afternoon.
Family members said the victim, Crystal McDaniel, was a married mother of five.
A family member said the victim was walking to see a relative with her oldest daughter. There are no sidewalks along the street in the area where she was hit. Family members said residents in the area have complained about this before.
The vehicle hit a home. The home was not damaged, but a gas meter was hit and began to leak. The fire department monitored the leak until it could be shut off safely.
A man in the vehicle was treated for injuries, according to the Gastonia Fire Department.
The Gastonia Police Department has not released any further details.
