A mother dangled her 2-year-old son over the railing of the cheetah pit before he fell into it at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Saturday.
The zoo is planning to press charges of child endangerment against the woman, according to Cleveland.com.
The mother was holding another child when the boy fell out of her arms and almost 12 feet into the cheetah pit. His parents went into the exhibit to take the boy to safety. The cheetahs never approached the boy or his parents, according to Cleveland.com.
The boy was taken to the hospital and treated for minor bumps and bruises.
The cheetah exhibit closed for the day.
