According to KTVA, staffers and security workers at the Tikahtnu Commons shopping center created a barrier for the moose as bystanders stopped to get a closer look at the mom and her newborn calf. Alaska Department of Fish and Game officials were on standby if help was needed.

"It's a new life, you know, so it's very exciting, but at the other end, she needs her privacy," shopper Katherine Warren told KTVA.
