Smoke rises after a fire broke out at the Monte Carlo hotel-casino, in Las Vegas, on Friday. The fire, which was reported around 11 a.m., was spreading from the center section of the hotel across the roof.

The fire spread from the center of the building across the roof. No major injuries were reported, said Clark County spokesman Eric Pappa.

The Monte Carlo Resort & Casino has more than 3,000 guest rooms and opened in June 1996. The 32-story casino-hotel modeled after the Place du Casino in Monte Carlo, Monaco, was a joint venture between Steve Wynn's Mirage Resorts and Circus Circus Enterprises.

Flames and plumes of black smoke could be seen on what appeared to a west-facing rooftop of the resort. Some debris can be seen falling in the lower right-hand corner.
