A mother pulled out her cellphone when an argument with her boyfriend started to escalate. Police say she ended up recording her own death.

Wesley Webb was fighting with her boyfriend, Keith Smith, in their Schuylkill Township, Pennsylvania, home when she reportedly told him she was going to take her kids and leave, according to the Times of Chester County.

Police said Webb and Smith were arguing in the living room of the home. Three children, all under the age of 14, were upstairs at the time.

As the argument escalated, Webb pulled out her cellphone and started recording. Police say the recording captured them arguing and the gunshots that followed.

“You want to record it now, (expletive)?” Smith is heard saying on the recording. Police said the next thing heard is Smith shooting Webb. The shot hit her in the chest, killing her.

Then he continues to speak to her, saying, “(Expletive)! How’s that? That is where we just went.”

Smith then turned the gun on himself and attempted to take his own life, police say, but he survived.

The children ran downstairs after hearing the gunshots and immediately called 911, WPVI reports.

“This was a savage, selfish and cowardly murder,” Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan said. “The defendant did not hesitate to kill  his girlfriend. But he flinched when it came to killing himself. Now the victim is dead, the defendant is alive and three kids have been badly traumatized.”
