Sharista Giles was left in a coma after a bad car accident in December. The 20-year-old was five months pregnant at the time and doctors told her family that she would never wake up. On Wednesday, she opened her eyes.

"The doctors were telling us there was nothing else they could do," said Beverly Giles, 49, of Madisonville, Tenn. to ABC News. "They already gave up hope. We never gave up. She's fought this hard."

Doctors had to prematurely deliver her baby in January, who the family has named 'Baby L' for the time being. He only weighed two pounds at birth but is now up to a healthy 6 pounds and 4 ounces.
