A Missouri woman died Friday night when she fell out of the passenger window of a car and then was hit by the vehicle she had been riding in, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Misty L. Newell, 38, of Lawson, was "improperly riding" when she fell out of the passenger window of a 2006 Ford 500 sedan, the Highway Patrol report said. She was struck by the sedan and was pronounced dead at the scene, WDAF reported.

According to the Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 11:30 p.m. east of Excelsior Springs in rural Ray County, The Kansas City Star reported.

The 35-year-old driver of the Ford sedan was arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and driving on a suspended license, KCTV reported.
