Michael Strahan addressed a four-day absence of co-host Kelly Ripa Monday morning on "Live!"
He also confirmed that Ripa will be returning to the show on Tuesday.
“Kelly had a scheduled day off to celebrate her 20th anniversary,” Strahan said. “She’s going to be back tomorrow, which we are all excited about.”
Last Tuesday, Strahan announced he would be leaving "Live!" in September for a full-time job with "Good Morning America." Ripa hasn’t been on the show since the announcement.
The New York Daily News reported she was "dodging" Strahan's calls and previously reported that Ripa "threw a fit" when she learned he would be leaving. The Wrap posted a piece, saying "Ripa (was) having a diva-like fit of pique."
>> Kelly Ripa didn't know Michael Strahan was leaving "Live!"
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ripa sent an email to "Live!" staff late Friday evening. She told them she's looking forward to returning to the show.
"I wanted to thank you all for giving me the time to process this new information," Ripa wrote in the email. "Your kindness, support and love has overwhelmed me. We are a family, and I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday morning."
Ripa has been laying low since the announcement of Strahan's departure. She was spotted last week outside her New York apartment, carrying a copy of "David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits and the Art of Battling Giants." The book gives examples of how underdogs rise up and beat their powerful opponents and how people succeed despite setbacks.
One thing is for sure -- many people will be tuning in to Tuesday’s show to hear what Ripa has to say about Strahan’s departure.
