A Kentucky man is trying to help an elderly friend keep her home.
Audrey Roberts is 104 and recently outlived her life savings of $180,000.
Evan LaPointe is now stepping in, asking the community to help Roberts keep her home, the Bowling Green Daily News reported.
But it's no ordinary story about neighbors.
Roberts was a foster grandmother for LaPointe, now 21, when he was a child.
The connection between Roberts and LaPointe has stayed strong over the years.
She still has his baby pictures in her home.
"I was babysitting after I retired. I was here by myself and wanting something to do. I heard about foster grandparents. We had fun. We had all those children," Roberts told the Daily News.
Now one of the children she helped is trying to help her.
"I think it's great. He's the nicest guy. He's a sweetheart. He was a good baby. Now, he's a good man," Roberts said.
LaPointe has started a GoFundMe account to help raise enough money for Roberts to stay in her home.
Since it was launched in early May, it has raised nearly half of the $100,000 needed.
Roberts earns $970 a month from Social Security, but needs around-the-clock care that costs $1,680 a week, the Daily News reported.
LaPointe's parents help when they can, mowing her yard and staying with her when caregivers can't. They also pay her cable bill so she can watch her favorite shows and movies.
