A man is expected to survive after he was dumped in a garbage truck and partially compacted Wednesday morning, according to multiple reports.
Authorities were called around 7:45 a.m. to the Willows Apartments on East Pawnee Street in Wichita, Kansas, after a man was found in the back of a garbage truck, KAKE reported.
The man, who was not identified, was sleeping in a dumpster when the truck picked it up, according to KSN. The man suffered injuries to his chest after the truck's operator started to compact the garbage, the news station reported.
Wichita fire Battalion Chief Sid Newby told KAKE that the operator heard the man screaming when he got out of the truck to check on something. The operator called 911 and first responders were able to rescue the man using a ladder truck, according to KAKE.
The news station reported that the man suffered some broken bones, but his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
