A Colombian national has pleaded guilty in Miami federal court to charging thousands of dollars to inject silicone into women’s buttocks without medical training or their permission.
Juan David Acosta, 44, of Hallandale Beach, was arrested in July after investigators discovered the operation that he was running out of his home.
Acosta told the women he was injecting a “cellular natural gel” to affect the “size, contour and structure” of their buttocks, but instead was injecting unlabeled silicone, court documents say.
Acosta presented himself as an expert who was licensed to perform the procedure, which is not approved by the FDA, officials said.
He pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court and could face up to six years in prison.
