A Georgia man says he is spending 30 days and nights on top of an old school bus that he hopes to transform into a mobile makeover unit for the homeless.

Terrence Lester has already spent 11 days and nights eating, drinking and sleeping on the bus, but he still has 19 more to go.

Lester says he’s trying to raise $50,000 to change the bus into a place where the homeless can transform their appearance and their lives.

“We want to transform it into a barber shop, closet and shower, so when we go out into communities we’ll be able to cut the hair of homeless men and style the hair of homeless women,” he said.

Lester founded the nonprofit Love Beyond Walls, which helps raise awareness and money to put toward societal needs. He says helping the homeless is a passion of his and this year’s focus for his organization.

“Other than makeovers, the bus can become a bridge to help connect people to the right programs where they can take steps for a total life change. This bus is literally a life transformation symbol,” Lester says.

Lester spends almost 24 hours on the bus each day, but has friends providing relief when he needs to stretch, walk around and use the bathroom. The father of two was also able to spend Christmas morning with his family.

“It was the first time in 11 days I was able to love up on my kids,” he said. “The first time in 11 days I was able to spend real, quality time with them.”

Lester says he’s thought about quitting but the support he’s received has helped him.

So far, Love Beyond Walls has raised $8,000. If you'd like to donate to the project, click here.
