Police said two children, including an infant, were left unattended in an unlocked vehicle in a police-only parking spot while the driver paid a traffic ticket.
Dustin McCormick, 27, was arrested for child endangering after he left his vehicle unlocked and the keys in the ignition Friday afternoon while he went into the Montgomery County courthouse to pay a fine from a citation stemming from a traffic crash, according to a Dayton police report.
Police leaving the West Third Street courthouse around 3 p.m. noticed a 5-month old and 7-year-old unattended in the vehicle, which was parked in front of the building in a parking space reserved for law enforcement vehicles.
The two children were released to a family member and McCormick was booked into the Montgomery County Jail, where he has since been released.
