Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. urged students to carry guns during a convocation speech Friday.

In the 21/2 minute speech, he encouraged students to take the school's free concealed carry class and as a way to thwart possible future attacks like those in San Bernardino, California, according to the The Associated Press.

"Let's teach them a lesson if they ever show up here," Falwell said. "I've always thought if more good people had concealed carry permits, then we could end those Muslims before they walked in."

Falwell later clarified his comments that he was specifically referring to Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik, who shot 14 people at a holiday party Wednesday, and not all Muslims.

Falwell said that about 100 people have asked the Liberty University Police Department about the free class offered to students to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon, according to News Advance.

Falwell has had his permit for about a year, he said to The Associated Press. However, he only started carrying a gun after the incident in San Bernardino.
