Two men were killed, two people were injured and a suspect was taken into custody after shootings in Seattle's Lake City neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Officials said there were multiple crime scenes.
Update 12:00 a.m. EDT March 28: The suspect approached a driver near Sand Point Way Northeast and Bartlett Avenue Northeast after 4 p.m. Investigators said the suspect shot and injured the driver, a 57-year-old woman. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition after the incident.
Investigators said the suspect walked into the street and fired at a King County Metro bus.
Metro officials tweeted the bus driver on Route 75 was hit and was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver, 53-year-old Eric Stark, turned the bus around away from the suspect. Twelve passengers were on board and they were not injured.
Witness John Barrett described the scene to KIRO-TV.
"I was working in the garage (and) heard firecrackers,” Barrett said. “And then I opened the door, then I noticed the bus trying to back up extremely fast."
The suspect then approached another driver in a red Prius and opened fire. The driver, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers arrived at the scene and located the suspect but he got into the Prius and drove away at a high rate of speed.
As he fled, the suspect crashed into another vehicle. The 70-year-old driver in the other vehicle died in the crash.
After a brief standoff, officers took the suspect into custody.
The suspect, a Sand Point resident in his 30s, was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. He was under police guard Wednesday night.
The investigation remains ongoing.
