Volusia County leaders are considering restrictions to a nearly century-old tradition - driving on the beach.
Leaders are expected to vote on a proposal to ban driving on some sections of sand Thursday.
The ordinance would ban vehicles from beaches about 1,300 feet behind two new beach developments.
Supporters say it spurs economic development and would help invigorate the beach front.
Opponents say the ban erodes a century-old tradition of driving on area beaches.
