A Kentucky father is accused of fatally striking his 1-month-old son after becoming enraged by a video game, police said.

According to WDRB-TV, Anthony Trice, 26, of Louisville, was playing a game Friday while watching the baby in a bedroom at his West Jefferson Street home, the Louisville Metro Police Department said. When Trice began to lose, he grew angry, threw his controller and punched the baby in the head, authorities said.

Police said Trice tried to calm his son by holding him, WDRB reported. As he headed to the kitchen with the baby, Trice dropped the boy and picked him back up before making a bottle, police said.

Trice returned to the bedroom with the baby and "propped him up," then went to the bathroom, leaving the child unattended with the bottle in his mouth, police told WDRB.

Authorities said Trice called 911 after he returned from the bathroom and noticed something was wrong with the baby, WDRB reported. Emergency responders took the child to a nearby hospital, where he died two days later.

Police initially arrested Trice on a charge of first-degree criminal abuse Saturday. After the baby died, authorities charged him with murder, WDRB reported.
