It completes NASA’s 30-year Space Shuttle Program story told throughout the Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit.

The 2,000-square foot memorial contains a collection of personal items of both crews and includes recovered hardware from the Challenger and Columbia.

“The crews of Challenger and Columbia are forever a part of a story that is ongoing,” NASA Administrator Bolden said. “It is the story of humankind’s evolving journey into space, the unknown, and the outer-reaches of knowledge, discovery and possibility. It is a story of hope.”

The new exhibit became open to the public at 10 a.m. Saturday.
