A new jet-powered car called the Bloodhound Supersonic Car is trying to break the land speed record by traveling 1,000 mph.
The car, which has 135,000 horsepower, debuted in London Thursday after eight years of research and development and is scheduled for its first test drive in October 2016 on a specially designed track in South Africa.
Royal Air Force pilot Andy Green, who set the current land speed record of 763 mph in 1997 in Nevada, will try to top himself in the Bloodhound.
