An Iowa woman was killed when she was struck by debris from an explosion at a gender-reveal party, officials said.

The incident happened Saturday afternoon, KCCI reported. The Marion County Sheriff's Office said officers responded to a 911 call about an explosion at a residence. A 56-year-old woman, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office news release.
An investigation at the scene determined that during a gender-reveal announcement, an explosion occurred. A piece of debris from the explosion struck the woman, fatally injuring her, officials said.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is investigating the incident, KCCI reported.
