Gas prices across the country are dropping now that we're more than halfway through summer.
In Tennessee, it's actually closing in $2, with the lowest costing $2.03 a gallon, according to WBIR.
The state's average is $2.38.
The same is holding true for other parts of the country.
In central Ohio, gas is approaching $2 a gallon also. A month ago the price was nearing $3, coming in at $2.82 a gallon.
According to the Columbus Dispatch, the national average this week was $2.82. It was the lowest since January and unusually low for the summer.
So why is the price declining?
It is thanks to growth in the domestic oil supply and the discovery of new sources of petroleum.
