The car was swerving across the road and crossed over the median into oncoming traffic. Christopher took the wheel.

“I put my foot on the brake and I got the steering wheel and pulled it over and put it in park. I didn’t want us to die,” Christopher said.

Trooper Lee Wells of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said Christopher was a hero.

“I’ve never seen anything like this before, so yes, absolutely a hero,” Lee said.

The driver was taken to a hospital and is expected to be OK.

Christopher said he is considering a future in law enforcement.
