Two 12-year-old girls in Aurora, Colorado, are making headlines after they gave a special gift to local firefighters.
According to KDVR, Kyra Dooley and Trennah Nantkes asked for money instead of birthday presents this year. They used the $1,200 they raised to buy a 65-inch TV with a mount and popcorn for Aurora firefighters, who rescued Trennah's mother two years ago.
"When her mom had her asthma attack, they came and helped her and saved her," Kyra told KDVR.
"We’re really thankful for them and wanted to give something back to them," Trennah added.
Firefighter John Woodruff was touched by the girls' surprise.
"It's unbelievable," he said. "Words can't describe it."
This isn't the first time Kyra has given back to the community. For her last birthday, she raised money for the Ronald McDonald House, and for Christmas, she gave blankets to homeless people.
