A grocery store worker is getting a lot of attention for doing something special for a little boy who needed some extra love.
The boy’s mother, Kimberly Grandinette, posted the photo to Meijer’s Facebook page. She said her infant son is in the hospital, and her 3-year-old son is having a hard time with all the changes.
Grandinette wrote that she was telling the cashier, Kristen Clark, about what was going on as she rang up their groceries.
“Then my 3-year-old son asked Kristen if he could help her ring our groceries,” wrote Kimberly. “She looked at my son and said, ‘Certainly’ and brought him behind the register with her.”
Grandinette said she couldn’t believe the clerk's kindness.
“She was so patient with him as she let him scan coupons and she made him feel like a million bucks. He skipped out of the store with a smile on his face,” wrote Kimberly.
In the comments section, Kristen’s parents expressed their gratitude.
“That’s my daughter,” wrote Carl Clark. “I’m so proud of her.”
Her mother, Diane Clark, expressed the same pride, writing, “I’m so thankful for her taking the time to make his day. That’s how she is.”
According to mlive, Kristen Clark is surprised by the response the photo has received. She didn't even know photos of the moment were taken, but says she likes to "get to know people" in the brief time she spends with each customer.
Meijer spokeswoman Christina Fecher also expressed pride for their employee, stating, "This is another reminder that compassion and kindness go a long way."
