A giant panda at the National Zoo has given birth to twin cubs, according to The Associated Press.
The cubs were born to Mei Xiang at 5:35 p.m. and 10:07 p.m. Saturday, according to zoo officials.
The sex of the cubs will not be known until a later date, officials said. There is no decision yet on naming the cubs, officials said during a press conference.
Mei Xiang started going into labor earlier in the day.
A video of the birth is on YouTube.
