The 43rd president; his father, former President George H.W. Bush; and his brother, 2016 presidential candidate Jeb Bush, are all skipping this year's Republican National Convention.

Mitt Romney, the Republican Party's 2012 nominee, and John McCain, the 2008 nominee, are also absent from the convention this year.

Bob Dole, the 1996 GOP nominee, is the only living Republican presidential nominee who is attending the convention, CNN reported.

Donald Trump, who named Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate, will accept the party's nomination tonight.
