A longtime customer of the Hwy. 55 restaurant in Irmo finished up his regular meal one recent night and left behind five cards, reported WIS-TV. Restaurant employees were pleasantly surprised to find the cards each contained $100 and a handwritten thank-you note.

“When I opened the card, I immediately started to cry,” Hwy. 55 head manager Taryn Jackson said. “When everyone else saw what was in the card, they rushed out to the parking lot to thank him. We probably didn’t realize it at the time, but it just shows the impact we can have on others when they come into our store and the relationships we build with our customers over the years.”

Each of the employees are between 20 and 23 years old and have been working at the restaurant since high school. The money will go a long way for them -- the beneficiaries of the kind tip include college students and the parent of a 2-year-old boy.
