Two Georgia men are making headlines after they helped Richmond County deputies capture a large alligator that reportedly had been chasing a kayaker in Augusta.
According to WJBF-TV, Trey Durant, who is licensed to hunt alligators, came to the rescue Monday night after a friend, Robby Amerson, spotted the deputies gathered near Gordon Highway and Molly Pond Road.
Amerson contacted Durant after learning that authorities were trying to nab a 10 1/2-foot, 360-pound "nuisance" alligator that had gone after a kayaker, WRDW-TV reported.
For more than two hours, the men wrangled the massive reptile, which was eventually tagged and processed, the news stations reported.
On Tuesday, Durant shared a photo of the gator on Facebook.
"I'm glad I could help you," Amerson wrote in the comments. "That's a sure enough dinosaur."
