Former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford will serve on the board of directors of the Hockey Hall of Fame and Museum.
Ford, who admitted to smoking crack during a drunken stupor in 2013, was selected to the board March 25, according to a release from the Hall of Fame.
Ford played hockey when he was younger and wants to help promote the sport, according to the CBC.
"I've got season tickets to the Leafs and I'm obsessed with hockey and obviously football but hockey's my number one sport and I'm going to try to just keep pushing it,” Ford said.
Ford was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in 2014, forcing him to end his bid for re-election for mayor. Instead, he ran for his old city council seat - and won.
Other members of the board include former NHL player Cam Neely and Donald Fehr, president of the NHL players’ association.
