A former Pittsburgh Steeler and four-time Super Bowl champion was found dead in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Tuesday night.
Sam Davis, 75, was reported missing from the New Life Care Personal Home.
He lived at the assisted living facility and walked out just before 7 a.m., according to police.
Davis was discovered there after being reported missing. He was considered endangered because he suffered from dementia and was legally blind, police said.
Davis played offensive guard for the Steelers in the 1970s. CBS Sports reported Davis spent his entire NFL career with the Steelers. In 1977, he and his offensive line helped their teammates, Hall of Fame running back Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier, become the second pair of NFL players to rush over 1,000 yards in one season.
Bleier commented on the news of Davis' death in an Instagram post, mentioning the 1,000 yard milestone.
Davis retired in 1980, having been part of the Steelers' four Super Bowl teams, including Super Bowl XIV, the Steelers' fourth big game in six years.
In 1989, Davis was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
