Ford is recalling more than 230,000 F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty pickup trucks for faulty tailgates that can open unintentionally.

The recall covers model year 2017 to 2019 trucks.

Water can enter the wiring system, causing the electric tailgate latch release to activate on trucks that have it, allowing cargo to fall out.

There are no reports of crashes or injuries because of the issue. Trucks with traditional tailgates are not affected.

Ford dealers will repair the issue for no charge. Owners will be notified the week of Jan. 20.
