Police arrested a Florida woman last week after an argument with her boyfriend over her birthday gift turned violent, according to authorities.
In a police report obtained by the Fort Myers News-Sun, authorities said they arrested Crystal Alicia Garlin after she and her boyfriend got into an argument around 9 p.m. Friday. The man told police that the argument stemmed from his refusal to pay for Garlin to get her hair and nails done for her birthday.
Garlin turned 32 on Monday, according to records from Lee County Jail.
As the argument escalated, Garlin armed herself with a knife, the boyfriend said. He was cut in the hand when he tried to grab the knife from his girlfriend, according to authorities.
Garlin told police that her boyfriend attempted to break up a fight between her and a relative before locking the house and leaving. She said he cut his hand later while trying to climb through a broken window.
Jail records show that police arrested Garlin Friday on one count of battery. She was released Saturday on a $10,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court next month.
