A Port St. Lucie, Florida, man is accused of punching another man in the face, then pulling a gun out while the two were in a heated argument over ice slushies, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Artavious Warren, 36, was in an argument Sunday night at an empty lot along State Road 715 with his roommate about “ice slushies” kept in their shared home, the police report states.

During the argument, Warren punched the victim in the face, leaving a cut on his lip. Warren then pulled a chrome handgun from a black backpack, the victim and a witness told police.

The victim ran and contacted police, and officers later spotted Warren, who fled and dropped the backpack, according to police. Officers found the fully-loaded chrome handgun inside the backpack.

Warren admitted to hitting the victim in the face, but denied possessing a firearm, the report states.

Records show that Warren has been sentenced to time in state prison on four occasions since 2003 -- twice for driving with a suspended or revoked license, once for felony battery and most recently for possession of a concealed weapon by a convicted felon. He was released from prison in November.

Warren, who now faces charges of battery, aggravated assault with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, remains in Palm Beach County Jail awaiting $16,000 bail.
