A West Palm Beach, Florida mother is taking to Facebook to thank an unknown boy for his simple act of kindness.
When Katie Myers took her wheelchair-bound son Kaden to a local science center last week, she observed another boy playing with him and assisting him at different exhibits. Kaden was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) at just 7 months old, a disease which causes Kaden’s muscles to gradually weaken over time, making him unable to walk.
"This was extra special because he was just a kid," she added. "This boy didn’t see Kaden's wheelchair, he just saw Kaden and that’s something that doesn’t happen often,” Myers said to ABC News.
Myers brings Kaden, now 18 months old, to South Florida Science Center and Aquarium in West Palm Beach to give him “his own, accessible little paradise,” Myers said.
“At home he doesn’t have much room to explore, so we’re there almost every day because, to Kaden, it’s like his playground,” Myers told ABC News.
Myers posted a photo the boy with her son on her Facebook page titled "Kaden's Cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy." The picture has already gathered more than 200,000 "likes" and 50,000 "shares."
“I would love to thank him,” said Myers to ABC News. “I would just like this child to know how he’s impacting the world just by being kind. Also, I’d love his parents to know they have an amazing child and how he’s engaging and treating everyone the same."
