The season’s first blast of Arctic winter air is not only bringing winter-like temps to Atlanta but also much of the nation.

Record-low temperatures are predicted for the eastern and central U.S., and all the way down to the Gulf Coast, according to the National Weather Service. Below-freezing temperatures are forecast as far south as central Texas by Wednesday morning.

Forecasters say the next few days will feel like the middle of winter for the eastern two-thirds of the country.
