A Kansas City firefighter is accused of body-slamming a woman into the pavement and striking her at least 30 times during an apparent road rage incident Tuesday, according to prosecutors in Jackson County.
Pleaze Robinson, 52, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, the Kansas City Star reported. According to court documents, prosecutors requested $25,000 bail.
Officials with the Kansas City Fire Department confirmed Robinson is a firefighter in the department, KSHB reported.
Raytown police said in a Facebook post that the incident happened just after 7 a.m. near Raytown High School.
According to court documents, the victim told police she got into a verbal altercation with Robinson shortly after driving away from her Kansas City home, the Star reported. The neighbor also told police Robinson nearly struck her vehicle.
The victim and Robinson stopped at an intersection and confronted one another, the newspaper reported. According to court documents, Robinson yelled, "That's my daughter."
Robinson then "grabbed (the victim) from behind, threw her to the ground and assaulted her," according to prosecutors.
"He punched me and then he threw me to the ground," the victim, who requested anonymity, told WDAF. " He sat on my back and just started punching me, just kept on punching me."
Robinson was honored in 2014 for assisting a police officer involved in a fight, according to a Facebook post by officials with Equality for Firefighters through Education, Community Service and Training. He was praised for "upholding the values of honor and courage."
