A New Jersey man is accused of forcing a woman who allegedly saw his son fatally shoot a man to disrobe and shower in bleach to destroy evidence, police said.
Frank I. Baker III, 50, of Cedarville, is charged with two counts of tampering with a witness, hindering apprehension obstruction and tampering with physical evidence, the Vineland Daily Journal reported. His son, Frank J. Baker, 25, of Bridgeton, was charged with murder, possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a handgun, the newspaper reported.
Both men were arrested Sunday and are being held at the Cumberland County Jail, NJ.com reported.
The younger Baker is accused of fatally shooting Jair A. Rennie, 22, of Bridgeton, shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday, the website reported. He is accused of shooting Rennie several times in the backyard of a home in Fairfield Township, according to an affidavit by New Jersey State Police Det. Rigoberto Onofre.
In addition to murder, Frank J. Baker was charged with illegal possession of a weapon, the affidavit stated.
After the shooting, the elder Baker forced the woman, who was not identified, "to shower with bleach and surrender her clothing (which) was worn while she witnessed the shooting and murder of Jair Rennie,” according to the affidavit.
The affidavit also claimed the alleged evidence destruction took place at the elder Baker's home, the Daily Journal reported.
