A 41-year-old man admitted in court Monday that he posed as his 14-year-old daughter's boyfriend to trick her into sending him nude photos of his own daughter.
The man, whose name is not being published because it would reveal the victim's identity, made AOL, Instagram and a texting account to contact the teen, posing as a 16-year-old boy from Watertown, New York.
Syracuse.com reported that, according to court documents, he set up the accounts in September 2013.
The two began a relationship, despite never meeting in person.
The man pressured her to send him naked photos after the pair were texting regularly.
Court documents said the texts often include requests by the man for naked photos or sexually explicit images.
In November 2013 the victim told the person she was texting that she wanted to break up with him.
"I tell u what u want to be gone then send me nudes and close ups and I will let u go (sic)," the man, posing as the boy, responded.
"No," the victim responded. "I'm not going to do that. That's another reason I'm leaving. All you talk about is sex sex and more sex. Honestly that is not what a relationship is about."
The man then threatened to send the images to the girl's father.
"I told you that a bunch of times when we were dating that I don't like those pics, and now you are threatening me that if I don't send you those then you'll send my dad the ones I sent you before?" she texted. "My life is ruined."
The man said he promised not to share the pictures if the victim sent him more photos.
After pressing for more photos, the victim sent him pictures, and they broke up.
The Utica Observer-Dispatch reported that the next day, the victim received a text from someone claiming to be the boy's mother informing her that her son committed suicide.
Around that time, the man confronted his daughter with screenshots of the text messages and started sexually abusing her afterward.
The victim reported the abuse to a school nurse, and the abuse stopped.
The man's deceit was uncovered as the investigation moved forward.
He pleaded guilty Monday to 12 counts of enticing a child to produce child pornography and receiving and sending child porn in federal court.
The man admitted to his guilt while sobbing in court.
The man will be sentenced in July and faces up to 250 years in prison.
