The winter weather barreling down on the East Coast stranded people in airports across the country. A Jacksonville family stepped in Friday to help a man stuck at the airport by a more than 24-hour delay on his flight after seeing a report on WJAX.

Bad news quickly turned into good news for Detroit resident Arthur Powers after he spent Thursday night at Jacksonville International Airport trying to get home.

"I was told that I won't be able to get out until tomorrow morning," Powers said.

Like many others traveling Friday, the snow bearing down on the East Coast created all sorts of delays and cancellations including the cancellation of his flight -- leaving an airport bench as Power's bed for a second night in a row.

"This is going to be my home until the end," Powers said.

But right after a WJAX report on Powers' situation aired, his Friday night accommodations quickly changed.

Viewer Alice Boito and her husband saw Powers' story and came to the airport to offer the stranded stranger a place to stay the night.

"Before I left home I took bacon out of the freezer," Boito said.

A few hours later the bacon was gone, and the cookies were ready.

"It's a blessing," Powers said. "That's all I can look at it."

The three new friends settled in for the night.

"This is so much better than the airport bench," Powers said as he sat down on the Boito's bed.

The three strangers have now formed a budding friendship forged by Northeast snow and Southern hospitality.
